The columns\, or ‘trees’\, reach up to support the roof in an\ninterlaced octagonal lattice vault structure evocative of English gothic fan vaulting\,\nfamously used at the nearby King’s College Chapel. The timber is sustainably\nsourced spruce which has been curved and laminated. Roof lights are located\nabove the ‘trees’\, bathing the prayer hall in light. DESCRIPTION:Day 1\nGretna Green – Glasgow\nToday; morning join up with your coach and depart towards Gretna Green. The coach will start from Milton Keynes and do various\nlocal pick-ups.\nWe will make our way North West pass Manchester with a late afternoon stop for lunch at Gretna Green\,\nThe famous runaway wedding venue since 1754\, Gretna Green is a historic and enchanting destination to get married or to visit. At\nthe heart of the village stands the iconic Blacksmiths Shop\, dating back to 1713\, where couples have “tied the knot” for centuries.\nWe then board back onto the coach and continue our way North towards Scotland\, making our way to the city of Glasgow. We\nexpect to arrive in Glasgow\, in the early evening.\nDay 2\nGlasgow – Loch Lomond – Fort William – Glasgow\nAfter our breakfast\, we board the coach and make our way towards the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park\, which is\nwhere Loch Lomond is situated.\nOn arrival at Loch Lomond\, why not enjoy an optional boat cruise; here appreciate the picturesque views of the highlands\, whilst\nindulging in a warm cup of tea or coffee. The Loch Lomond or “Lake of the Elms” is a freshwater Scottish loch which crosses the\nHighland Boundary Fault\, often considered the boundary between the lowlands of Central Scotland and the Highlands.\nIf you decide to forgo the Loch Lomond cruise you can spend the time admiring the scenic beauty from the shoreline of the Loch\,\nwhich gives you picturesque views of the national park.We then make our way along the scenic route towards Fort William to visit the Nevis Range. On arrival\, we take a cable car\n(subject to operation) to Aonach Mòr on the Nevis range. Standing at 1\,345 metres above sea level\, it is a popular mountain\ndestination. En route\, we will stop at the Three Sisters Mountain Viewpoint.\nWe will also stop today at the Commando Memorial\, which is a Category A listed monument in Lochaber\, Scotland\, dedicated to\nthe men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II. Additionally\, we visit Neptune’s staircase\, which is a\nflight of eight locks on the Caledonian Canal. This amazing feat of engineering raises the canal by 19m over a quarter of a mile of\ncontinuous masonry and takes around 90 minutes for a boat to travel up or down the locks. Built by Thomas Telford between 1803\nand 1822\, it is the longest staircase lock flight in Scotland.\nDay 3\nGlasgow – Edinburgh – Glasgow (Distance: 160 Kms)\nAfter breakfast today we drive to Edinburgh\, which is Scotland’s compact\, hilly capital; with its medieval Old Town and neoclassical\nbuildings.\nToday drive to Edinburgh\, on route\, we stop for a photo stop at Falkirk Wheel\, which is a rotating boat lift in Scotland\, connecting\nthe Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The world’s first & only rotating boat lift was opened by Her Majesty\, The Queen in\n2002. Then\, we visit The Kelpies:30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting Kelpies. The sculptures\, designed by sculptor\nAndy Scott\, were completed in October 2013. The Kelpies are a monument to horse-powered heritage across Scotland.\nArrive into Edinburgh and visit the famous Edinburgh Castle with its fine state apartments and ancient Scottish crown jewels.\nDescend the hill and cross the Royal Mile to see St Giles’ Cathedral and its crown-shaped spire. Continuing the journey\, we walkUp to Carlton Hill\, which is also home to some iconic Scottish monuments and buildings. Monuments include the National\nMonument\, Dugald Stewart Monument\, Nelson’s Monument\, the Old Royal High School\, Robert Burns Monument\, Political Martyrs’\nMonument\, and the City Observatory.\nDay 4\nGlasgow – Lake District – London (Distance: 685 Kms)\nThis morning\, after breakfast\, we checked out of the hotel and made our way towards the Lake District. The Lake District\, also\nknown as the Lakes or Lakeland\, is a mountainous region in North West England.\nAs we drive through the Lake District\, we admire the lakes\, towns\, villages\, and mountains within the National Park. Once we reach\nLake Windermere\, a large lake in Cumbria’s Lake District National Park\, we enjoy our 45-minute boat cruise from\nBowness-on-Windermere\, which is surrounded by mountain peaks and villages.\nWe then board a Heritage Steam Train ride from Lakeside to Haverthwaite.
